Circuits des Remparts
The Circuit International Automobile des Remparts d’Angoulême, also known as the Grand Prix Internationale des Remparts, Grand Prix des Remparts and Circuit des Remparts, is a speed car event contested on a circuit whose layout plays with the ramparts of Angoulême.
The competition was imagined in 1938 by the Automobile Club of Deux-Sèvres, Charente and Vendée (ACDSCV) under the name of “ Circuit of the Ramparts“. The event was interrupted by the 39-45 War and resumed in 1947 and acquired a strong notoriety as soon as it was relaunched thanks to the presence on the starting line of the best drivers of the time (Fangio and Trintignant in particular).
Relaunched in 1978, the Circuit des Remparts is gradually becoming an international class automobile event, bringing together historic cars and motorcycles from all eras competing either on the circuit, or during elegance competitions and state restoration competitions.
