The Red Dust Revival

From 1914 to 1939, an isolated claypan 23km outside of Kalgoorlie, Australia, hosted an annual race meet which became legendary in motorsports. Lake Perkolilli is a unique, rock hard claypan which has been the location for many Australian speed records and was almost forgotten until a bunch of vintage motor racing enthusiasts grouped together and reignited the good old days, in vintage fashion.
The event features over 250 vintage cars and motorcycles from the 1914–1939 era, racing on the original claypan surface.
Proceeds from camping and spectator entry fees support Variety, the children’s charity, aiding their initiatives within the Western Australian community.
From Monday to Wednesday, the cars and bikes run on the track for tuning and testing. There are no formal events run at this time. The track is available only for drivers and riders entered in the event.
